The most common new installation is the replacement of the consumer unit, with the modern SAFER circuit breakers. New wiring regulations, now mean that all circuits that contain cables in walls within 50mm, need to be protected by RCD's. RCD's protect against a fatal electric shock, and also faults within the property. If you have any circuits NOT protected by an RCD then, those circuits could potentially be putting the occupants at risk from either fire or a fatal shock.

We pride ourselves on going a step beyond the norm when installing a replacement, and new, consumer units. We will only use quality trusted products, installed with care and pride. Everything is labelled with clear pictorial icons and brief description. Making it easy to see at a glance what the switch relates too. We always recommend the use of RCBOs, though more expensive is a blessing in the event of a future fault whereby the impact of the fault on the property is greatly reduced.

In addition to this we produce a complete breakdown chart that is affixed near the fuse board, giving all the relevant details about each circuit and what is on that circuit. Where we really stand out is by the level of detail that goes into the work. We will produce on completion a detailed floor plan of the property with every socket and light clearly marked with the circuit number. By doing this, it makes any future works or fault finding very easy and is a good clear indication that we have done the job well. All the relevant information, including floor plans, consumer unit charts, and certificates are then collated into a folder for you the client to keep safe, and have to hand for future reference.
